BRAM STOKERS DRACULA by Nigel Hare

BRAM STOKERS DRACULA by Nigel Hare

A classic tale given the modern treatment 22 years ago: perhaps it requires a remake for the next generation or has the vampire moved on into twilight?
This is a very stylised movie while still checking the Draculas of the past. I suspect it adheres to the original text quite closely though I have to say it's not a novel I have read. It is visually very pleasing and moves at a good pace.
Stunning performances from Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins as Dracul...a and van Helsink more than make up for the awful Keanu Reeves (so wooden he's Pinocchio) and Winona Ryder.
It is an Oscar winner but not one of the big ones. Well worth a watch if you enjoy the vampire genre or if you missed it all those years ago.
